Riot Games has announced that its tactical first-person shooter, Valorant, is coming to mobile platforms. The announcement comes as the PC version approaches its first anniversary, with over 14 million monthly active users. The move to mobile coincides with the launch of League of Legends: Wild Rift last year.

There are few details about the upcoming release of Valorant Mobile. Apart from confirming the new title, the gaming company has not yet revealed a release date. However, Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon confirms that the mobile version will not be a spin-off or a different type of game and will not support cross-play with the PC version.

Valorant executive producer Anna Donlon shared, "To see our growing player community recognize and appreciate what we're trying to do with Valorant is beyond what we could've expected and we're thrilled to soon offer the same competitive Valorant experience to even more global players."

Riot Games did something similar with League of Legends recently, with the release of League of Legends Wild Rift. Wild Rift is a mobile-optimized version of League of Legends; however, there are concerns that Valorant's precise shooting mechanics will not translate well to mobile. It's difficult enough to play Valorant with a controller rather than a keyboard and mouse.

Donlon further emphasized that Riot has no plans to integrate cross-play between mobile and PC. Riot does intend to create a console version of Valorant, but it will receive less attention than the mobile version.

While the expansion's details are unknown, it's worth noting that the company's other title, League of Legends, has expanded to include multiple games, comics, and an upcoming animated series called Arcane.

To celebrate Valorant's successful first year, Riot has announced that players can claim free in-game items throughout June.

Valorant, which was launched about a year ago, quickly gained popularity among the PC online gaming community. The game rewards players' high mechanical skills, primarily based on quick reflexes and precise aim. Just like League of Legends, owning a skin doesn't add stats to the character. Riot mainly focuses on producing games showcasing player's skill.
