近年来，刘正清律师代理了许多中共当局认为敏感的案件，如黄琦案、秦永敏案、张海涛案等。刘正清被广东省司法厅吊销执业证，理由是庭审中发表了所谓危害国家安全的言论。广东省司法厅因其辩护词而对其处吊销律师执业证的行政处罚，令人惊骇。

此处罚所显示的法治倒退极其巨大——这样下去，律师还可以为当事人做无罪辩护吗？此类处罚无疑是从根本上摧毁了中国大陆现有的律师制度。
